During one of the first lessons at the Fotovakschool we got the assignment to make some portraits of each other. I am very pleased with the result of this shot.

IPA 2009 - 2nd prizewinner

Hoek van Holland

Last sunday, it looked like there was going to be an interesting sunset. It rained a bit during the day, but in the evening the sky was clear with an occasional cloud. It seemed a good idea to go to Hoek van Holland to try and make a good sunset photo. I think I was succesful, because I have two.

The sun was low and had disappeared behind a cloud. For the first shot I choose a piece of driftwood as a foreground element. Because of the slightly longer shutterspeed I managed to show movement in the water, which for me adds to the photo. The build up of the wave in the distance and the ship on the horizon are also key elements to give some depth to the photo. All these parts combined make this a good shot for me!

The subject in the second shot is the ship on the horizon. The sky seems to be on fire because of the red and orange. What I really like in this photo is the reflection of the colors in the foreground. That is what makes me very happy with the endresult.

Tenellaplas

Last week I went to the Tenellaplas near Oostvoorne, for a walk and to take some photos. The weather was lovely and because I was there on a Thursday it was really quiet.

The first two photos are Dandelions. With the first one I wanted to show it in an abstract way, here it looks somewhat like an explosion in my opinion.

Next I went to a pond where a duck was swimming with her offspring. The little duckies where hunting for flies. It was a funny site, because the tend to make short sprints through the water. They look like a speedboat when the do so!

My “Moraine Lake” at Photoburst

National Geographic

November the 9th was a lucky day for me! I received an email from Robbert Vermue, Editorial Coordinator of the Dutch National Geographic. They had chosen my photo Winter landscape from the photocommunity to be published in the January edition.

To make it even better they had also chosen a photo from Wendy, so we are on the same page
